  8.   This Door now offers support for FOSSIL drivers!  This new feature makes
  9.  it compatible with most multi-port boards.  If you wish to  use a Fossil
  10.  driver, rather than the standard COM ports, just put /FD on the command line
  11.  when running the Door. For example: QUIZARD QUIZARD.CNF /FD
  12.

  16.   Had reports of conflicts when using non-standard IRQ's on Novell/Netware
  17.  systems. Seems Novell also uses the / character on the command line so
  18.  something went screwy somewhere. So I added the * (asterisk) which may be
  19.  used instead of the / in case of a conflict. In other words, /%IRQ% and
  20.  *%IRQ% will both work and are interchangeable.

  23.   It appears that different installations of PDS produces different versions
  24.  of the BRT71EFR.EXE run-time module which aren't compatible with each other.
  25.  Therefore, this Door is now compiled stand-alone. You no longer need to have
  26.  the run-time module for this Door.

  29.   Fixed a bug when restoring the screen after Chat or Drop to DOS. It would
  30.  generate an illegal function call whenever it hit a blinking character.

  32.   We now have support for the 30-something line DOOR.SYS file as well as 
  33.  the 52-line one.

  35.   Corrected some errors in writing the SFDOORS.DAT file. Specifically the
  36.  COMPORT% and DAILY.BYTES.ALWD& variables.

  39.   Finally installed the screen restore when coming back from Chat or a Drop
  40.  to Dos. It will now put the screen back like it was including anything typed
  41.  at an input prompt. If you had entered anything before the interruption,
  42.  that is restored and you can pick up right where you left off!

  69.   We now have support for GT Power systems. The .CNF file is a little
  70.  different for GT. The COM port goes on line 5 and the Node number goes on
  71.  line 6.  If you are a registered user of Quizard's then your registration
  72.  number goes on line 7.

  77.   If you are using a non-standard IRQ, you may use an environment variable
  78.  instead of specifying the actual IRQ number. Syntax is:

  84.   The door will now recognize the PCBoard %PCBDRIVE% and %PCBDIR%
  85.  environment variables. For example, if your path to PCBOARD.SYS is
  86.  C:\PCB\PCBOARD.SYS, you can use %PCBDRIVE%%PCBDIR%\PCBOARD.SYS instead
  87.  and the door will substitute the drive and directory. This allows multi-
  88.  node systems to use just one .CNF even if the paths are different
  89.  for each node!

  94.   A problem in determining the correct path to the ANSI bulletin has been
  95.  fixed.

  97.   Added routines to check for the existance of CATEGORY.DAT and at least
  98.  one Question file (which should have been in there in the first place!)
  99.   Inadvertantly left the two Question files out of v4.0. Included in the
  100.  .ZIP now.

  105.   Well, the long-awaited and long-overdue conversion from the old DoorPch
  106.  library is finally completed. About the only significant changes are in the
  107.  configuration file. The first 4 lines stay the same. The category filenames
  108.  and display names now go in a separate file called CATEGORY.DAT (see the
  109.  enclosed file for the format). You do not need to specify the number of
  110.  categories on the first line and do not put the / at the end of each entry.
  111.  There are 2 entries on each line of the CATEGORY.DAT file. The first is the
  112.  actual DOS filename and the second is the name of the Category you want
  113.  displayed on the screen. For example:  GENERAL.DAT/General Topics
  114.  Note the / in between!
  115.   For those of you who have registered before, you will need to call MicroNet
  116.  for your new registration number. The old QUIZARD.REG file will no longer
  117.  work.
  118.   WARNING: Make sure you back up your old files before installing this new
  119.  version.

  126.    Recompiled with DoorPch 3.4. No changes were made to Quizard's itself. 
  127.    This version of DoorPch allows for a bug in the IBM BIOS c. 1982 which
  128.    would lock up under previous versions of DoorPch. Changed version number
  129.    to avoid confusion with 3.0 compiled under DoorPch 3.3.

  134.    Recompiled with DoorPch 3.3. According to the authors, DoorPch 3.2 had a 
  135.    bug in figuring the users remaining time. Although I have not experienced
  136.    it on my system, I did the recompile just to be on the safe side. No other
  137.    changes were made.

  142.    Recompiled with DoorPch 3.2 to provide compatibility with PCBoard 14.0.

  144.    Both the ANSI and non-ANSI versions have been combined so it is no longer 
  145.    necessary to run two doors. The program will first check to see if the user
  146.    is in graphics mode and if so will continue on. If not, he is given the 
  147.    option to switch to graphics mode.

  149.    Removed requirement that the Demo version use my name and BBS name. You may
  150.    now use your own, however, it will still say 'Evaluation Copy' until the
  151.    program is registered.

  160.    Version 1.7 is now totally compatible with version 2.1. In fact it is 
  161. exactly the same except it doesn't require an ANSI compatible system. You may 
  162. run both versions from the same directory and they will access the same 
  163. Question databases, WIZARDS.DAT, QUIZARDx.CFG and use the same QUIZARD2.SYS
  164. file. However, you must still have two DOORS on the menu since one batch 
  165. file must run QUIZARD.EXE and the other runs QUIZARD2.EXE.
  166.  
  167.    Both versions now use the internal bulletin function of DOORPCH31. Therefore 
  168. the Bulletin path is no longer used in the .CFG files. In it's place you must 
  169. enter the number of Categories available. Hopefully this will eliminate those 
  170. nasty Error 52 messages!  
  171.  I recommend you run both programs before any of your users since you must
  172. answer some questions pertaining to number of names to be listed, Bulletin 
  173. path, etc. The program will create two bulletin files: QUIZARD.BUL and
  174. QUIZARD2.BUL. If you would like to have only one Bulletin, I suggest you add 
  175. a line in the Door batch file to copy one .BUL file over the other.

  187.    Quizard's now detects when a player has answered all available questions 
  188. in a particular Category and instead of resetting all pointers then, it will 
  189. switch to another Category. The pointers are not reset until all questions in 
  190. every Category have been answered. This will prevent a user learning all the 
  191. questions in one Category and answering them over and over. Especially useful 
  192. for Categories that have only a few questions in them!

  194.    The Observe Spell now prompts for a date instead of displaying the whole 
  195. log. The default is the date he last played the game or today's date if he is 
  196. a new player.

  206.     This version of QM has finally removed the necessity to run the daily 
  207. maintenance utility thru the Event.sys! It now runs itself when the first 
  208. player of the day logs on.
  209.  
  210.     QM2 is compiled using Doorpch 3.1 so you must have the file DORPCH31.EXE 
  211. in the default directory or in your path. Put it in the same directory as 
  212. BRUN30.EXE and you should be ok. You also need to add a system variable to 
  213. your AUTOEXEC.BAT. Add: SET DOORPCH=PCB
  214.  
  215.     You may now use punctuation in the answers. Periods, commas, hyphens etc. 
  216. will be inserted in the hint line (which has changed from dots to down arrows) 
  217. however, they are not automatically entered in the answer so the player must 
  218. include them himself.
  219.  
  220.     QM2 uses cursor addressing which requires the player have an ANSI 
  221. compatible system. You might want to consider keeping version 1.6 online if 
  222. you have a number of users with Commodores, Atari's, etc.
  223.  
  224.     The player's Status, Time and available Spells are now kept on-screen at 
  225. all times so the Status and Time spells have been removed. The Refresh Spell 
  226. has been added to redraw the screen in case the screen gets messed up due to 
  227. line noise, etc.
  228.  
  229.     IMPORTANT! The COM port number formerly in line 1 of the .CFG file is no 
  230. longer used. It must be removed or you will get an error. The /NETWORK 
  231. parameter in multi-node systems is no longer needed and must also be removed.

  233.     Last and best. QM2 now allows multiple Question files!! You may call these 
  234. databases anything you want, such as GENERAL.DAT, SPORTS.QST, etc. You must 
  235. put the filenames in your QUIZARDx.CFG file.
  236.  The Question database filenames start on line 6 and you may have up to 30
  237. databases. Make sure they are valid DOS filenames since the program uses 
  238. these to create the answer files for each database i.e. GENERAL.ANS,
  239. SPORTS.ANS, etc.
  240.     Since the filenames are entered in each .CFG file, multi-node systems 
  241. could have entirely different questions for each Node!
